Koh Samui is an island located on the southern coast of Thailand. It is the third largest island in the country and the most populated. It is part of the province of Surat Thani. Koh Samui started its tourism development in the 1970s and has become a very popular tourist destination. Chaweng and Lamai are the most famous beaches. Today, Koh Samui offers its visitors beaches, restaurants, hotels, spas, bars, shops, markets, activities, resorts and tourist attractions.

Koh Samui is located on the southern coast of Thailand in the Gulf of Thailand. It is one of the largest in the country and the third largest. Koh Samui is located about 25 km off the west coast of Surat Thani province and 700 km south of Bangkok.

Koh Samui is a very popular holiday destination and has been named one of the world’s top 25 holiday destinations by Condé Nast Traveler magazine. The island was also ranked as one of the best destinations in Southeast Asia in Travel + Leisure magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards 2017. However, the island does not stay away from modernity and pollution, and has lost some of its natural charm.

Koh Samui Beaches

The island of Koh Samui, with its large number of beaches, is a very popular tourist destination. The most popular and busiest beaches are Chaweng and Lamai Beach. Both beaches are lined with palm and coconut trees, with golden sands and turquoise waves. They offer hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and clubs. However, these beaches are crowded and it is difficult to find any privacy. Maenam beach is less busy and quieter, but also less beautiful. Other beaches on Koh Samui include Bophut, Choeng Mon, Hua Thanon, Lipa Noi, Taling Ngam and Thong Krut.

Koh Samui offers a wide variety of restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Thai cuisine is one of the best in the world and Koh Samui is a great place to try it. Many restaurants offer Thai, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Korean, American, Brazilian, Irish, Mediterranean, Mexican, Indonesian, European, Spanish, Chilean and vegan dishes. The most popular Thai dishes are pad thai, tom yam soup, papaya salad, chicken salad, curry and Thai rice.
