Big Buddha Beach is up in the Northeast of Koh Samui and takes its name from the island’s most oft visited tourist attraction, a 12 metre tall statue of the Buddha, with views of the beach below. The statues has been standing at the top of a steep climb of steps for 30 odd years, and is now surrounded down below by vendours and Buddhist themed offerings and superstition, and even more spectacularly, it is joined close by other equally giant statues and temples.
The beach is one of the more quite sandy spots on the island, the water is blue and warm, and relatively untroubled by sales people, dogs, and motor boats. It’s a nice place to relax. The waters are fit for swimming. So if you’re looking for a quieter holiday, bare this place in mind.
